- Focus group methodology is often helpful in the formative stages of research. Tasks accomplished with focus groups can range from the identification of important topics for study, eliciting feedback from the targeted study group for the refinement of assessment instruments and methods, to seeking recommendations for accruing research participants. The BMSR identifies and recruits participants for groups, trains others as, or provides experienced group leaders, completes logistics (e.g., determining site for session, processing incentives for group members), and provides support for related focus group tasks (e.g., recording responses in writing or by audio or video taping).
- Data collection procedures are provided, including recommendations for and procedures for assessment and data collection methods (e.g., in person, mail, telephone, computer, paper/pencil).
- Personnel for data collection can be identified, selected, trained, and supervised by the behavioral measurement shared resource
